Brilliant. Would ...
Brilliant. Would this variation? work? 2 Folders in the project folder containing identically named files of varying quality: "High", "Low". Before starting the project, rename Low to "Source", then work away. Once finished, close down Vegas. Rename "Source" back to "Low", rename "High" to "Source." Start Vegas back up... and shouldn't it find the high quality versions now, since "Source" contains the high quality files. Does that make sense and would it work?
I am making NEW? ...

I tried bulk rename ...
I tried bulk rename but the editing software picked up on it.I had to convert my ext files to match? my orig clips. And it works BUT.Just found? out.In my import settings if i dont choose1080 with my prox clips then my ori clips wont be1080 when i switch. My ed software makes u pick resolution b4 you import.Though my prox files are low quality, by me choosing1080my prox clips act as if its 1080.Bad playback. Is there any way around this. Thanks again.

i did everything ...
i did everything exactly at the same way, but the audio in my proxy videos is stretched and out? of sync, the audio ends before the video. what could be the problem?
Secondly, i wonder is there any difference which MPEG profile i choose(Main@main or 4:2:2@main) after i hit encode on super? I tried both but didnt find any difference
Thirdly, after encoding and renaming my proxy mp4, sony vegas pro 10 wont open proxy video files - any help with these?
Thanks this is ...
Thanks this is really handy!?
This tutorial is ...
This tutorial is causing a lot of confusion for about 50% of viewers. The other 50% seem to get it no problem.
Because of all the confusion I will be remaking the tutorial in a simplified version.
I have started preparing for the new version already, so it? should be uploaded in the next 5 days. So if you can wait until then I am sure the new version will help you out. Subscribe to my channel and you will get notification when this happens.
i dont? know where ...
i dont? know where i went wrong? but my videos are mp4 that sony vagas could not read after i re named the files. should i have kept the files in mpg or should i convert em to a degenerated mp4? i get the concept but i dont know how to make the process work for me
Great videos. I've ...
Great videos. I've used SUPER in the past. The? new SUPER is loaded? full of spyware and comes with a fantapper add on that installs on your computer whether you decline to install it or not. Look that up and see all the problems people are having with it.
I know why should I ...
I know why should I click each files: gorpo make mp4, I convert it to mpg with Super for proxy. If I rename it to mp4 the vegas doesnt read it so I have to leave it mpg. When I? render with HD files I have to click every files beacuse the original is mp4.
Thanx again!
I ...
Thanx again!
I think I will use proxy because Cineform made 800 MB file from a 400MB (against super's 67MB)...
Cineform is much slower than Super.
So the proxy is good solution for me.
I had only one problem. When I replace the proxy files I have to click each files. I have not got an option? to use the folder for all files...
Part Two:
For your ...
Part Two:
For your situation it is actually very simple.
Forget about the whole process and idea of Proxy Videos.
Your workflow is this:
1. Import Video into your computer
2. Convert to Cineform
3. Import Cineform into Vegas and make your project as normal
4. Render your project to whatever codec you like
5. Make a cup of? tea and watch your masterpiece
*I have to update this video soon - there are too many variables.
Part One:
This ...
Part One:
This Proxy Video Tutorial is more trouble than it was? worth, because I everyone seems to be having problems.
OK - Keeping it simple.
If you are using Cineform and it works for you, then you don't have to swap the original files back into Vegas at the end. The Cineform codec actually improves the quality of your original video, because it "unlocks" the colour space encoding.
@basiccamaro 2. Use ...
@basiccamaro 2. Use Cineform to make 480p files (cca. Same file sizes than original) to proxy and after render with the original HD files? 3. Use cineform to convert files to vegas but use the destination resolution (720, 1080). It would muc much bigger files than the original but not compressed. And use to this file for render, not the original compressed HD. I think the number 1 and 2 this the best solution. Sorry about these questions but I try to? learn the best workflow..
@TemporalParadox1 ...
@TemporalParadox1 Thank you for your reply. I work much bigger files than 42 mb, I just? tested the Cineform conversion. Which do you think is the best workflow for me? 1. Use proxy than you shoved in your video?
If your original ...
If your original file is only 42Mb's, you should be able to edit with that normally.
Proxy editing is more? for the big AVCHD files.
Cineform AVI files are much larger - this is true.
However, they are also now NON-compressed - which means your computer can play them back very quickly.
It is a Paradox - but that is the way it has always been.
AVCHD videos are large and compressed, which means your CPU has a lot of work to decode before playing.
With the following ...
With the following settings the original MOV file converted to AVI in Cineform.
Advanced settings:
-frame size 576p (is the smallest for PAL)
-Quality: LOW
The original MOV was 42 MB, the converted AVI is 57 MB.
So it is not? good for proxy, is it?
hello Temporal,
...
hello Temporal,
Thanx for the tutorial!
You mention GoPro Cineform in your other video.
It it worth to use it for proxy? methood? If I convert Mov files into Avi it is much larger file not smaller that I should use for proxy.
fair enough. I like ...
fair enough. I like your videos, I have just ordered Sony? Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 Suite and can't find any videos but yours regarding tutorials. Sony advertises video lessons on the product I've bought, are the enough to get me started? Would appreciate your help..
Yes, you can do ...
Yes, you can do that if you wish.
You can use any Video Converter you like.
The? only problem with a lot of free Video Converters is that they don't convert AVCHD Video properly.
My personal choice is Media Converter 7.5 by Arcsoft.
Why not use Vegas ...
Why not use Vegas for making smaller proxy files instead of Super?? Considering you have up to 5 files say.
I have already ...
I have already made? videos explaining about Preview Quality in Vegas - they are in my list of videos.
You haven't mentioned what type of video you are using or the nature of your project.
Hi temporalParadox1 ...
Hi temporalParadox1.. one question im using a HP computer with Core i7 with 8gb of ram and I? dont know why when Im editing a video with sonyvegas pro my preview lags so much. why?
Hi Tyrone
I don't ...
Hi Tyrone
I don't understand if you are going to mute one audio layer, but replace it with another, why would you reduce the quality ?
Audio is the most important component for a Video to be watchable.
The amount of file size you can save by reducing audio quality, is so small compared to the Video component, it is not worth destroying your audio.
I do understand your? logic, but I advise to always cut your video down before audio.
I would go for ...
I would go for Canon T3i over HFS100 if you really? want to make some beautiful videos.
Canon HFS100 is better suited for doing long interviews with people or vlogs.
I use a Canon HFS200 at the moment - nice video camera.
However, I am saving up to get a Canon 60D so that I can do more "low light" film making.
Cheers :)!!!
